My sentiments exactly.

I received a letter from the West Bank via an American friend of the writer. As hard as it was to read, I cannot imagine living in the destruction of a fascist State intentionally done for their racism and economic greed. It felt like a must read and feel the pain to hopefully motivate the kind of reactions for which you are calling. But Americans need to look at themselves as the entitled people who live in comfort and do not know the horrors perpetrated on other people to prop up that comfort. Of course we have serious poverty but even that is nothing like the horrors the US pays to happen.

As you imply and others have noted, we should consider the cost to Americans translating that into the specific losses we suffer as that seems to affect people. Not the $$$trillions stolen from us by the corporate elite and their bought politicians as those numbers do not compute for working people living on $10 K to $75 K/year. The very few $$$ provided low income people during the covid phase, in NYC about $300/ week if I recall correctly, literally lifted about 50% of children in poverty out of that class providing food and paying for housing and clothing. For those who are home owners and may be living in the suburbs comfortably, all that tax money could be returned to the State and localities to lower property taxes or pay for schools as in teacher salaries that are insanely low in many States. Or building parks and playgrounds or public transportation.
